My mom passed away just a couple of weeks ago. Since my dad passed away about three years ago, my siblings and I are now left with the task of going through their belongings and deciding what to do with them. My mom and dad lived a simple lifestyle so the things we are going through aren't the type of things that have large monetary value. As a matter of fact for anyone other than our family, most of the things are worn out and have very little value. One of those items is a huge family bible which sat on their coffee table and which is losing it's cover. The value of this Bible is huge for us. I can remember going through the pictures, which were my favorite parts when I was little and my mom explaining the pictures to us. I also remember family devotions and, especially at Christmas when we put a lighted candle on each side of the bible and we would read the Christmas story from Luke and then we would take turns praying. More than the words and pictures was the faith of my parents on which they staked their lives and which gave their lives a central direction. For this reason, the family Bible had incredible value.
